RCMP investigating cause of 'suspicious' Kelowna fire

The Kelowna RCMP is investigating the cause of a fire after it caused "significant damage" to a structure this morning.

At roughly, 8:54 a.m., June 5, the Kelowna Fire Department dispatch center received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting an out building on fire at the rear of the property at 1350 Ridgeway Drive.

The first arriving officer reported flames and smoke coming from the building and an attack line was deployed and used to quickly extinguish the fire, said platoon captain Steve Roshinsky, in a press release.

The fire caused significant damage to the structure and was deemed suspicious, meaning the RCMP are now conducting an investigation.

The fire department responded with two engines and a command vehicle, Roshinsky said.
