RCMP investigate suspicious death in Merritt

A man died in Merritt Monday and RCMP believe his death was suspicious.

Emergency services were called to John Beauchemin’s home because he was in medical distress on March 3, according to a press release from police issued today, March 4.

When first responders arrived they found that Beauchemin had suspicious injuries and even though they attempted to save his life he died from those injuries.

The Southeast District Major Crime Unit is now investigating his death.

“Investigators are diligently tracing Beauchemin’s final movements, and interactions, leading up to the time of his death. At this time, there is believed to be no cause for public concern as investigators continue to gather and assess the facts surrounding Beauchemin’s death,” RCMP Staff Sgt. Jason Smart said in the release.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Southeast District Major Crime Unit Tip Line at 1-877-987-8477.

RCMP are not releasing any more information about what happened at this time.
