OSOYOOS – The suspect arrested in connection with a strange incident in that community earlier this week has been charged and will appear in court later today.
A woman walked unannounced into a stranger’s house in Osoyoos on Wednesday, Aug. 8, and asked to see the woman’s baby. The resident pushed the woman out the door but she allegedly grabbed a concealed weapon and forced her way back inside the house.
RCMP say the new mother managed to push the suspect out the door again and called police.
The suspect was arrested yesterday afternoon, Aug. 9, police say.
“We understand this incident was very traumatic for this new mother,” Osoyoos RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Jason Bayda said.
Sharon Constance Forner, 45, of Osoyoos has been charged with one count each of assault with a weapon, break and enter to commit an indictable offence, and possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public peace or the purpose of committing an offence, according to an RCMP media release.
Forner remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Penticton court today, Aug. 10.
