KAMLOOPS - A Kamloops man is in custody following a search by the RCMP helicopter and dog unit yesterday afternoon near an RV park and campground.

Police say they received a call about a suspicious man at the Silver Sage RV Park and Campground near the Mount Paul industrial area on Tk'emlups Indian Band land around 2 p.m. yesterday, April 28.

The officer who found the suspect recognized him as a suspect from an April 20 robbery on Tranquille Road. A man was robbed of his wallet and based on the victim’s description of the suspect he was identified by police and a warrant issued for his arrest, according to an RCMP media release.

When the officer tried to arrest the man, he took off and police surrounded the area. The police dog unit and the RCMP helicopter were involved in the search.

Police say the suspect was found hiding in a public bathroom and arrested.

A 38-year-old Kamloops man is scheduled to appear in court today, April 29, facing charges of robbery and resisting arrest.
