A Quesnel man has been missing from his home for over a month, and his uncharacteristic disappearance is causing concern.

According to an RCMP release, the last confirmed sighting of Andrew Charles Ward was May 9, 2020 at approximately 7:20 p.m.

He was at the 4 Mile Store & Coffee Shop located on the Barkerville Highway with an individual known to him, and departed in a grey Jeep YJ believed to be headed towards the Pinnacles Road area.

Since launching their initial investigation, the Quesnel RCMP have called on the Major Crime Section due to the unusual nature of Ward's disappearance.

"We continue to search for Andrew and at this point in the investigation are asking for anyone who had dealings with Andrew in the Quesnel area during the months of April and May to contact police," Cpl. Madonna Saunderson of the North District RCMP said in a release.

"Regardless of whether or not you saw him in the days leading up to his disappearance, police are trying to gain a better understanding of who Andrew was, and what may have happened to him."

The RCMP Major Crime Section, the Quesnel RCMP, the Forensic Identification Section, Air Services, Underwater Recovery teams and the Police Dog Service have conducted extensive searches in the Quesnel area. So far, Ward has not been located.

Ward's family is concerned for his safety, as the disappearance is out of character.

"This is not some random missing person. He is my brother, and I miss him. His family misses him," Ward's sister stated in a release.

"We are desperate for some resolution. If you have any information, please speak up."

Anyone with information regarding Ward's disappearance is urged to contact the Quesnel RCMP at 250-992-9211.
