KAMLOOPS - Search crews are dealing with the aftermath of 17 mudslides in their efforts to locate a woman and her vehicle after being swept off the highway near Cache Creek.

It's been almost a week since 67-year-old Valerie Morris has been missing after a mudslide pushed her 1968 Morgan convertible off of Highway 99, approximately 100 kilometres outside of Kamloops.

RCMP Sgt. Janelle Shoihet says parts of the vehicle have been located, but they have not found the car or any traces of Morris.

"The search is ongoing throughout the rest of the weekend and into Sunday evening," Shoihet says.

Police believe the vehicle was pushed into the river and at this point do not believe Morris is still inside the car.

Shoihet says police believe they have an idea of where the vehicle is but haven't been able to retrieve it because of it's challenging location.

"We have some ecological concerns in relation to the fishing in that area," she says. "We will have to work with fisheries and oceans to get a better sense of where it is."

Police confirmed this is now a mission to recover Morris' body.

Morris and her husband were on their way home from a classic car show in Kamloops when a mudslide swept their car off the highway on Saturday, Aug. 11. Her husband managed to escape in time and suffered minor injuries.
