A crash on Highway 5 near Kamloops this morning claimed the life of a woman in her 60s.
Tk'emlups Rural RCMP responded to the collision at around 11 a.m. today, April 28, when a passerby reported a blue Ford Explorer in a ditch near the Cache Creek exit on Highway 5, according to an RCMP media release.
First responders provided medical attention to the woman when they arrived, but she was pronounced dead on the scene, RCMP said.
As police investigated, two southbound lanes and a northbound lane on Highway 5 were closed.
The B.C. Coroners Service will investigate to determine the cause of the woman's death. Her identity is not being released to the public.
