Rain and maybe even a thundershower today in Southern Interior

A spring-like weather pattern is bringing a threat of a thunderstorm to parts of the Thompson Okanagan this afternoon.

A weather system moving through the southern portion of the province today could bring a thundershower or two to parts of the South Thompson and Okanagan.

Environment Canada meteorologist Bobby Sekhon says there is a slight risk of a thunderstorm this afternoon, March 26, and evening in Kamloops and the Okanagan valley as unstable conditions and showers persist in the wake of a passing front.

Sekhon says the thunderstorm risk is highest toward the south end of the Okanagan valley.

“It’s a typical spring-like pattern, with unstable air aloft and scattered showers,” he says.

The good news is once this unstable weather system moves off, it makes way for sunshine and above normal temperatures for the rest of the week and through the weekend.

Kamloops can expect highs around 17 Celsius on Saturday and Sunday, while the Okanagan is looking at daytime highs of about 16 C this weekend.
