Quick action prevented forest fire near West Kelowna

WEST KELOWNA - Crews from West Kelowna Fire Rescue rushed to the aid of B.C. Wildfire Service firefighters last night, May 23, to douse a fire in a camper trailer.

West Kelowna was called in by the province to help fight the “highly visible” fire near the Bear Creek Forest Service Road, according to a news release from West Kelowna Fire Chief Jason Brolund.

Even though the fire was outside West Kelowna’s boundary, city crews responded with two trucks because of the increasing forest fire danger rating, Brolund said.

Together the crews put the fire out and limited its spread into the forested area surrounding the trailer.
