A Quebec man died will snowmobiling in the Revelstoke area this past weekend.

RCMP in Revelstoke were notified about a missing snowmobiler on Boulder Mountain near Revelstoke at around 5:40 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, according to an RCMP media release.

The 27-year-old man from Quebec got separated from the group he was snowmobiling with.

The man attempted to radio his group his location, but he didn't have GPS or satellite communication so he was not immediately located, RCMP said.

Revelstoke Search and Rescue were deployed and found the man in serious medical distress in a remote and steep area called Toilet Bowl.

RCMP said while the search and rescue team was extracting him from the location, his condition got worse and he succumbed to his injuries, RCMP said. His death isn't suspicious.

Both the RCMP and the BC Coroners Service are investigating.
