Quebec triple-murder suspect must face U.S. criminal charges before extradition

MONTREAL - A man wanted in connection with three deaths in northwestern Quebec will not be extradited until separate charges are settled against him in the United States justice system.
Justin Bresaw was arrested Sunday by police in Tallahassee, Fl., and he has appeared in court twice since then.
A state attorney in Florida says authorities are aware of the extradition request and are working to expedite the U.S. case against Bresaw.
Bresaw was the subject of a Canada-wide arrest warrant and an alert by Interpol after three people were found dead last month inside a home set ablaze in Amos, Que., about 500 kilometres north of Montreal.
He is charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the death of two men and a woman found inside.
U.S. attorney John Fuchs says he knows Canadian authorities are eager to get Bresaw before a judge in Quebec. But Bresaw also faces serious charges from the incident in Florida, including assaulting a police officer, and Fuchs says those charges must be resolved first.
Fuchs says Bresaw is scheduled to appear in court again, tomorrow, for the third time in as many days.
