A banana python stolen from a Kelowna pet store has been returned safe and sound.

The $800 snake was reported stolen, April 15, from the Purple Seahorse Pet Store in Rutland, according to an RCMP news release.

Through CCTV footage and assistance from a community partner, Const. Fred Angulo, who works with young people in the community, identified the three youth involved in the incident and retrieved the snake unharmed today, April 17, and returned it to the pet store.

Since the snake was unharmed, the owner of the store isn't pressing charges.

“One of the things the owner wanted to ensure is if the youth were remorseful,” Const. Angulo, said in the release.

“In my dealings with the youth, I could confirm they were indeed remorseful for their actions and did regret causing the incident.”
