'Reflect and Connect' by William Frymire from Kamloops that is part of this year's sculpture exhibit in Penticton.

The public sculptures that decorated downtown Penticton for the past year are getting ready to say goodbye.

Members of the public will no longer be able to see the latest Public Sculpture Exhibition after April 25, according to a media release from the City of Penticton.

The City will be replacing this year’s sculptures with eight new ones which will be unveiled during a ceremony on May 19.

This sculpture, titled What Does the Nose Know?, can be found in downtown Penticton until the end of April 2023.

Sculptors chosen to have their work displayed in the city will be paid $2,000 to $3,000 each. There will also be prizes of $500, $300 and $200 for the top three sculptures.

This year’s first Place prize went to Jean E. Ouellon from Kaleden for Pearl the Pandemic Salmon. What Does the Nose Know? by Ron Simmer from Vancouver was the runner up. And Laurel Dinney from Victoria came in third with Murphy.
