Kelowna’s listening habits were revealed this week when the numeris numbers were released.
CBC Radio One came out at No. 1, getting 17.5 per cent of the listening market in the 12-plus age category.
Coming in tops among privately run stations was Beach Radio, which earned 13.1 per cent of the market share and Power 104 came in No. 3 with a share of 10.8 per cent.
At No. 4 was EZ Rock with 10 per cent of listeners tuning in, Country 100 was next with 9.8 per cent, Castanet Soft Oldies earned eight per cent of listeners’ time, K96 had 7.3 per cent market share, AM1150 has 5.2 per cent of the audience and Virgin/Sun has four per cent.
While the rankings may be anecdotally interesting to listeners and offer bragging rights to show hosts, they may also strongly impact revenues, though most stations will tout their reach within specific demographics.
