KELOWNA - Alert members of the public helped Kelowna RCMP officers catch a man who police allege broke into a home and stole a car this morning
Police say they were called to a home in the 1500 block of Sunridge Court in the upper Mission neighbourhood around 7:25 a.m., Jan. 22.
A homeowner was woken up to a noise in his house and when he went to investigate, he saw a 'shadow' get into his wife’s PT Cruiser and drive away, Cpl. Joe Duncan says in a media release.
Officers spotted the stolen vehicle in the Kettle Valley area, but lost sight of it before it turned up abandoned on South Crest Drive.
Members of the public pointed the RCMP in the right direction and a suspect was arrested.
Duncan says a 34-year-old Kelowna man is facing charges of break and enter and auto theft.
