A public hearing will be held this month for an affordable seniors housing complex.
Kamloops City Council is currently looking at rezoning amendment which, if approved, will allow 37 units of senior social housing to be constructed at 1250 Trans Canada Highway West.
According to city documents, the property will add 37 units to the former Maverick Inn Motel site, located in Aberdeen near the Tourist Information Centre off of Hillside Drive at the end of Hillside Court.
With 42 affordable senior housing units already located at the site, Ask Wellness, in partnership with BC Housing, is asking for an amendment to add an additional building where the parking lot is currently located.

The former motel was converted to a social housing site in 2017, according to city documents, and also contains a caretaker suite and restaurant.
The public hearing is scheduled for March 10 at the city hall council chambers, starting at 7 p.m.
