A prolific offender who struck a police cruiser after going over a spike belt in Kamloops is set to appear in court later today.

Jeremy Donald Orr-Hall, born in 1995, is facing four criminal charges after he allegedly drove erratically through Kamloops on May 9.

Police said they initially tried to pull him over in a BMW SUV when it was spotted without licence plates but police allege he fled the scene.

The driver then rolled over a spike belt near the Halston Bridge, deflating two tires.

That didn't stop him, however, and he continued to drive "aggressively," police said.

Police called off the chase in the interest of public safety, but kept track of it with covert vehicles.

Again, police tried to pull over the BMW, but it collided with a police cruiser and fled to the Oak Hills neighbourhood.

Numerous reports of an erratic driver in the area led police to declare a hold and secure at a nearby school before they eventually pulled him over in the Oak Hills neighbourhood.

“As soon as the suspect got out, officers and the Police Dog Services Unit moved in and took the man into custody, preventing his drive from resuming," Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the May 9 news release.

Orr-Hall was charged yesterday, Aug. 10, accused of dangerously operating a vehicle, fleeing from police, resisting arrest and refusing to comply with an order, according to court documents.

Orr-Hall has faced dozens of charges for crimes across the Okanagan and in both Kamloops and Merritt since 2017.

After he was arrested for the May 9 chase, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest when he was scheduled to appear at a Kamloops courtroom in June for a mischief charge.

He has a lengthy criminal history including charges from 23 different occasions, mostly in Kamloops, and include identity theft and firearms charges. He was sentenced for theft  in Vernon in 2019 where prosecutors noted his already-extensive criminal history.

He's set to make his first court appearance for the May dangerous driving incident tomorrow, Aug. 11.
