Prison escapee arrested in Merritt after nearly one month on the run

MERRITT - A prison escapee from Saskatchewan has met his fate in Merritt after nearly one month of running from authorities.

Travis Funk, 34, was arrested in Merritt last week, Oct. 21, where he was found in the company of a 24-year-old woman alleged to have helped him escape prison, Saskatoon Police say in a release.

Both are expected to face charges in Saskatchewan.

Police say as a result of the investigation, two other men ages 29 and 35 have been charged in connection to helping Funk escape prison.

A manhunt for Funk began on Sept. 24, after police responded to a report that a man had fled from a prison is Saskatoon, after allegedly climbing over the fence and getting into a vehicle.
