Some cooler, damper weather is coming to the Okanagan.

Today, June 8, there’s a severe thunderstorm watch issued for the North Okanagan, according to Environment Canada, with a risk of thunderstorms in the Central and South Okanagan running into this evening. Even if thunderstorms don’t materialize, 10 mm of rain is expected today as showers are forecast. Wind is also in the forecast, arriving in the afternoon with gusts predicted to reach up to 60 km/h, though temperatures are expected to hit a high of 24 Celsius.

The wind and showers will remain into the evening, with another 5 to 10 mm of precipitation overnight as temperatures fall to 9 C. The risk of thunderstorms will remain during the evening.

Tomorrow is expected to be a cooler day, with a high of 18 C along with a mix of sun and clouds. There’s a 30 per cent chance of showers as well. In the evening it’ll drop to 9 C again, but the skies should clear.

The weekend is looking a little more pleasant, with a mix of sun and cloud and highs of 20 C on Saturday predicted. In the evening it’s expected to reach a low of 11 C with a 40 per cent chance of showers again.

Sunday will be similar to Saturday, with a mix of sun and clouds forecast and a high of 22 C. In the evening there’s a 40 per cent chance of showers again as clouds roll in.

Next week looks damp, as rain and showers are currently expected. Highs are forecast to be in the low 20s.

This weekend is expected to be right around what is normal for this time of year, when temperatures hit between 22 C as a high and 9 C as a low.

Right now there is a severe thunderstorm watch out for many parts of the interior. The North Thompson, Shuswap and North Okanagan have all had watches issued, along with regions farther north and east.
