Possible thunderstorms for central and north Okanagan today

Clouds, possible showers is forecast for the Okanagan today, with the added possibility of a thunderstorms in the central and north parts of the valley.

A spring-like weather pattern is expected to bring thunderstorms to the north and central Okanagan today.

Okanagan residents can look forward to a mix of weather conditions over the next few days along with temperatures around or slightly below the seasonal mark, and the prospect of a warming trend next week.

For today, April 23, Environment Canada is calling for a 70 per cent chance of showers in Vernon, and a 40 per cent chance of showers under mostly cloudy skies in Kelowna.

Both cities should reach a high of 14 Celsius.

There is also a thunderstorm risk this afternoon and evening for Vernon and Kelowna.

Three is a 30 per cent chance of showers in Penticton today, with a high of 16 C expected.

The possibility of showers continues into this evening with tonight’s low dipping to 3 C along with a risk of frost in Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton.

Friday should see a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 19 C in Vernon, 17 C in Kelowna and Penticton, and a low of 5 C in all three cities.

The weekend is expected to start on a damp note, with a 60 per cent chance of showers in Vernon and a 70 per cent chance of showers in Kelowna and Penticton on Saturday under cloudy skies and cooler temperatures.

Saturday’s high is expected to reach 15 C in Vernon, 14 C in Kelowna and Penticton.

The showers are expected to continue overnight with a low of 4 C.

Sunday should see increasing cloudiness through the day, and it will remain on the cool side with a high of 13 C and a low of 7 C.

There’s also a 30 per cent chance of showers returning for Sunday night.

Starting the work week, Monday should be a sun cloud mix with a high of 14 C, with highs of 20 C and 22 C expected Tuesday and Wednesday, also under a sun and cloud mix.

The normal high and low for Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton at this time of year is 17 C and 3 C.
