KAMLOOPS – A man who hit the ditch while possibly impaired may have inadvertently helped Kamloops police solve a few crimes
Early this morning, Jan. 24, RCMP got a tip that a man stuck in a ditch on Highway 5 south of Kamloops was possibly impaired.
The officer who attended the scene thought so too, according to a RCMP press release, but the suspect gave a false name and took off running through the bush. Police Dog Services were called and after a lengthy search through the countryside, the suspect was located and arrested.
“It was found that the car the suspect had been driving was stolen from Kamloops in December. In the trunk of the stolen car were numerous items reported stolen from businesses throughout January,” said Cpl. Jodi Shelkie in the press release.
The suspect is being held for court. He is from the Kamloops area and was previously known to police.
