Penticton’s pop-up piano initiative is set to launch tomorrow.
The Downtown Penticton Association is partnering with the City of Penticton to launch the piano project in an effort to bring a positive interactive activity into downtown.
Downtown Penticton executive director Lynn Allin said in a media release the idea is to “support the community and provide them with a creative outlet to showcase their musical talent.”
The piano has been decorated by seven local artists from The Long Gallery & Studio, who have turned it into a “masterpiece," she said.
Plans are for the piano to undergo daily cleaning, and signage will be displayed to encourage physical distancing.
Musicians are being encouraged to wash or sanitize their hands before and after playing.
The piano project kicks off at noon tomorrow, Aug. 26, in Nanaimo Square.
Those who can’t be there in person can watch a livestream of the performance on the Downtown Penticton Facebook page here.
