When Canada announced yesterday that it was closing its borders, it left one important country off the list — the United States.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said it was because our two economies are "quite particular." But B.C. Health Minister Adrian Dix said B.C. strongly urged the Canadian government to close the border to Americans, in part because there are currently 772 COVID-19 cases in Washington State, and 42 deaths.
“We remain concerned that access to Canada from the U.S. remains open,” Dix said at a news conference. “It’s our strong view and strong message that visitors from the U.S. don’t come to B.C. because at this moment that is the wrong thing to do. We understand people are going self-isolate, but better than self-isolating, for visitors, is not to come.”
We're wondering about your thoughts. Should we close the border to Americans?
