September 04, 2020 - 2:43 PM

B.C.'s police watchdog is investigating the Kamloops RCMP in connection to an incident involving serious harm but few details are being released to the public.

The Independent Investigation Office of B.C. is in the early stages of a probe into an incident of serious harm that occurred in Kamloops, Sept. 2.

"The investigative team is currently conducting initial investigative steps to determine if police actions played any role in the matter, and if the injuries meet the serious harm threshold for the (Independent Investigation Office) to investigate," a spokesperson with the organization said.

The nature of the incident has not been disclosed by the independent investigation office at this time.
