A fire was lit outside the Penticton RCMP detachment and police are searching for witnesses.

Officers were alerted to an item lit on fire outside of the detachment around 5:24 p.m. on Christmas Day, according to a press release from police.

The fire was extinguished with limited property damage and no one was injured.

Police are searching for anyone who saw the incident, and anyone who might have dash camera footage driving past the detachment around the time of the fire.

Anyone with information is asked to call Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300.
