Police seek public assistance in locating stolen pickup

Penticton RCMP are looking for information after a pickup was stolen from a Penticton alley this afternoon, Dec. 20, 2018.

PENTICTON - An elderly Penticton man is without his vehicle following a crime of opportunity this afternoon.

The owner of a black 1998 Ford F150 left the keys on the seat while returning to his home momentarily to retrieve his phone when it was stolen from the alley in the 300 block of Rigsby Street in Penticton around 2 p.m. today, Dec. 20.

The truck has a British Columbia license plate number DS7104 and “Easy Easels” decals in white lettering on either side of the canopy windows.

There is also a handicap sticker hanging from the rear view mirror.

The vehicle was last seen heading north in the alley towards Westminster Avenue, Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth said in a press release issued this afternoon.

"This was definitely a crime of opportunity that took mere seconds to unfold," added Const. Liz Vant Erve. "I remind people to be extra careful with their property and protect it."

Anyone with information regarding this theft should contact the Penticton RCMP at: 250-492-4300.
