Police seek Penticton stabbing suspect, vehicle

PENTICTON - Police are on the hunt for a suspect after a stabbing in Penticton this morning.

A man was stabbed by a person he found in his vehicle at about 9:20 a.m. today, July 10, at a home on Secrest Place in Penticton, according to an RCMP media release. The victim was taken to Penticton Regional Hospital in stable condition.

RCMP say the victim doesn't know the suspect, who was wearing a white mask and a black hoody. An older model, light coloured Chrysler LeBaron with a dark coloured soft top was seen fleeing the scene by witnesses.

“All of our available resources responded to this incident and the vehicle was located on Highway 97 where it turned off into Summerland,” Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says in the release. “The suspect vehicle veered into oncoming lanes and drove at a high rate of speed through residential areas. Fortunately, there were no further injuries, but we have not been able to locate the vehicle or the occupants.”

Police are asking for public assistance in locating the vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to call the Penticton RCMP detachment at 250-460-2157.
