KAMLOOPS - Kamloops RCMP are on the hunt for a man who may have made a recording of a boy in a public washroom in Riverside Park last week.
RCMP say a boy was in one of the stalls in the washroom at Riverside Park at about 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 24 when a man reached under the wall of the stall with a cell phone that appeared to be recording.
"When the boy asked the man what he was doing, he said ‘nothing’ and left the bathroom," Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in a media release.
Police say the suspect is a man in his 30s with a slim build and wavy blonde hair. At the time of the incident he was wearing tan pants and boots that were light brown at the top and dark brown at the bottom. He left the park in a faded red, older model hatchback van.
“Police advise parents to always accompany their young children into public bathrooms rather than wait outside of the washroom for them,” Shelkie says. “If your child is a different gender, look for a family washroom to use.”
Kamloops RCMP are asking anyone who can identify the suspect or vehicle from Riverside Park to contact them at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
