A Nakusp man, who may have been travelling to Kelowna earlier this month, has gone missing and RCMP are asking again for the public’s help to find him.

Christopher Sanford, 36, was last seen on Aug. 4 in Nakusp. RCMP say he was reported missing the next day when his black GMC S15 pickup truck was found abandoned in Fauquier.

Police believe Sanford had been travelling to Kelowna.

Despite an extensive search of the area where the pickup truck was found by local search and rescue volunteers, a police dog, boats and an RCMP helicopter, no sign of the missing man was found.

“Although RCMP detachments across the southern Interior have reported receiving possible sightings of Christopher, police in those jurisdictions have not been able to substantiate any of those public sighting reports,” Nakusp RCMP Cpl. Jaime Moffat says in a media release. “Our missing person’s investigation remains very active, and we strongly encourage anyone with any information to come forward to speak with police.”

RCMP describe Sanford as a Caucasian man, 5’10” tall, 150 to 160 lbs. with short brown hair, hazel eyes and a full sleeve tattoo on his left arm. He was last seen wearing camo pants and a black T-shirt. He was possibly barefoot.

Both police and Sanford’s family are very concerned for his health and well being.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact their local police or the Nakusp RCMP at 250-265-3677. Tip information can also be provided anonymously 24-hours a day to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or online at www.bccrimestoppers.com.
