A woman in Kelowna reported to police after she was sexually assaulted in a Millbridge Park yesterday morning.

She was walking in the park at around 9 a.m. yesterday, Sept. 29, near Gordon Drive and Springfield Road when an unknown man approached her from behind and sexually assaulted her, according to an RCMP news release.

The woman fought back and was able to flee the area without being physically injured.

Kelowna RCMP are investigating the assault.

“Police are asking the public to be aware of this incident and to assist with any information that can advance the investigation,” Const. Solana Paré, Kelowna Regional RCMP spokesperson, said in the release.

Police describe the suspect as a Caucasian male with long curly black hair and a mole under his right eye. He is approximately 35 years old and stands 5'10" tall.

At the time of the attack, he was wearing a black hooded sweater with "California" written on it in white lettering and a picture of a bear on the front, black pants and a red backpack with black and red mesh straps.

He was also described as smelling strongly of cigarettes.
