Kamloops RCMP are seeking the public's assistance to identify an individual who was caught acting suspiciously in a library branch yesterday afternoon.

On the afternoon of Feb. 1, the Kamloops police received a report of a man who appeared to be filming in the children's section of the library on the North Shore, according to an RCMP news release.

Once approached by library staff, the man quickly left.

“We’re trying to locate the man to discuss the report received,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

“We are releasing an image of a person of interest in hopes that he will come forward, or that someone can identify him, to help further the investigation.”

The man is described as being between the ages of 50 and 60, with dark and grey hair that is balding on the top. He appeared to be heavy set and spoke broken English. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark jacket, blue jeans and white running shoes.

Anyone with information relating to this investigation should contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-3242.
