Police look for more victims of alleged fraudster arrested in Kelowna

Megan Weistra.

KELOWNA - A Kelowna woman may have been cooking the books — not keeping them — for an Edmonton company.

Megan Weistra, 27, was arrested July 3 in Kelowna by RCMP after an investigation by the Edmonton Police Service fraud investigations unit, media spokesperson Cheryl Voordenhout said in a press release.

Between December 2014 and June 2015, Weistra is alleged to have intercepted $270,000 worth of monthly rent payments made via Interac to her employer, a local realty and property management company.

Weistra has been charged with fraud over $5,000, producing a false document and breach of probation.

Police believe Weistra, who also goes by the name Megan O’Gorman, may have defrauded other organizations and are releasing her photo to encourage other possible victims to come forward.

Anyone with a complaint against Weistra can contact the Edmonton Police Service at 780-423-4567.
