iN VIDEO: Police investigate group attack of Kelowna teen

Police are investigating after a Kelowna teen was attacked by a group of youth downtown.

Kelowna RCMP received a call of an injured teenager in Waterfront Park just after 8:30 p.m. Sept. 25, according to a release.

The teen, 14, told police he had been with a friend at Waterfront Park in Kelowna roughhousing when he was attacked by another teenager. He said he was on the ground, protecting his head while the youth punched him repeatedly and several other people in the crowd kicked him.

“There is a video circulating through social media that shows the violent incident. It is extremely disturbing, and we certainly understand the public outrage,” Cpl Jocelyn Noseworthy said in a release.

"The RCMP is in the process of identifying the parties involved, and determining the full story. This investigation is being taken very seriously and we will be working with our community partners to ensure that these youth are dealt with in the proper way.”

Anyone with any information about this crime can contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 or remain completely anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
