KEREMEOS - A police incident in Olalla that closed Highway 3A temporarily last night required the assistance of the RCMP’s Southeast District Emergency Response Team.
RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Dan Moskaluk said in a media release officers from the Keremeos detachment were called to an Olalla residence around 2:30 p.m. yesterday, Nov. 28, on the request of local health authorities.
“On our arrival, officers made contact with the man inside his home, however he was reluctant to cooperate with police. As a precautionary measure, support and assistance was sought from additional resources, including the Southeast District response team,” Moskaluk said.
The man was apprehended peacefully under authority of the Mental Health Act shortly after 9 p.m., he says.
Moskaluk says no criminal charges are pending against the 52-year-old man.
Police closed Highway 3A for around two hours, according to Drive B.C.
