A 42-year-old woman is facing charges after she was caught with jerry cans full of stolen fuel in Enderby this past weekend.

An officer on patrol saw a woman pulling a wagon on a walking trail near Granville Avenue in Enderby at around 11 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, according to an RCMP media release.

When she saw the officer, she abandoned the wagon and fled on foot. She left behind the wagon with several jerry cans of fuel that was suspected to be stolen.

A police dog led officers to a home on Old Vernon Road where they found the suspect who threatened them with "dog deterrent spray," RCMP said.

She was taken into custody before she could spray the officers.

“Police officers are trained to look for things out of the ordinary and if something doesn’t seem right, we’re going to take a closer look,” North Okanagan RCMP spokesperson Const. Chris Terleski said in the release.

Alana McIntire, 42, was arrested on five outstanding warrants, and is facing new charges of possession of stolen property, resisting arrest and assault with a weapon.

She’ll stay behind bars until her next court appearance, Jan. 25.
