SALMON ARM – RCMP called in a helicopter and a police dog in an effort to catch the person riding a stolen motorcycle in Salmon Arm last week.

A motorcycle without a licence plate passed a police car at around 10:18 a.m., Friday, Sept. 23 in Salmon Arm, according to a RCMP media release. The officer tried to stop the motorcycle, but the rider took off “at an increasing rate of speed.”

Police found the motorcycle, which had been stolen from the Enderby area, abandoned in the woods a short distance away.

“A police helicopter and police dog were utilized to search a wooded areas for the rider,” Staff Sgt. Scott West says in the release. “The police dog located evidence but the operator of the motorcycle was not located.”
