Children in Kamloops can head to the playgrounds in City parks and schools today after being closed for more than two months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Playgrounds and outdoor fitness equipment opened today, June 1, in Kamloops, according to a City of Kamloops media release.

City workers will be removing the closed signs and the caution tape that has been on the play structures since the mid-March closures.

The City says playgrounds will not be cleaned and users are urged to wash or sanitize hands before and after visiting the areas, to maintain social distancing standards and stay away if they feel unwell.

More information will be released about waterparks and other indoor recreation areas as reopening plans continue to unfold, the City says.
