Man charged with mischief after making comments on Air Canada plane

Original Publication Date September 26, 2014 - 8:10 AM

TORONTO - A 22-year-old man has been charged after allegedly making concerning comments on board an Air Canada plane at Toronto's Pearson International Airport.

The airline says the flight's 161 passengers were boarding the plane ahead of its scheduled 8:55 a.m. departure for London when one passenger "became concerned" by the comments of another passenger and alerted the crew.

Air Canada spokesman Peter Fitzpatrick says the airline's security and police were called.

Peel Region police say Sohill Agha of Mississauga, Ont., has been charged with two counts of mischief and is to appear in court on Oct. 27.

Acting Sgt. Thomas Ruttan says another man voluntarily left the plane after Agha's arrest because he was nervous about what was happening, but later returned to the aircraft before it was cleared for takeoff.

Ruttan says Agha's baggage was also removed from the plane.

Police say the incident did not affect other operations at the airport.
