B.C. Agriculture Minister Pat Pimm fights colon cancer battle

VICTORIA - British Columbia Agriculture Minister Pat Pimm has been diagnosed with colon cancer and is scheduled to undergo surgery on January 21.

The Peace River North MLA says he plans to continue with his regular duties as the minister and representative for the Fort St. John area until the end of this week, and hopes to get back to work as soon as possible after his surgery.

Pimm says he will undergo the surgery at the hospital in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Pimm told Premier Christy Clark and his cabinet colleagues today about his diagnosis, which he describes as a curve ball that will keep him on his back for a short time.

Pimm says he was feeling uncomfortable late last year and a series of medical tests discovered the cancer.

Pimm, a long-term Fort St. John city councillor, was first elected to the legislature in 2009 and re-elected in 2013.
