A collision on Highway 97 in Peachland yesterday evening caused a truck to take a dive into Okanagan Lake.
The driver of a black Dodge pickup truck was travelling westbound at around 6:30 p.m. yesterday, Oct. 11, when his left front tire blew causing him to lose control of his vehicle and veer into oncoming traffic striking an eastbound GMC Yukon, according to an RCMP media release.
The collision caused the pickup to fly off the surface of the road and dive, upright, into Okanagan Lake, RCMP said. The driver was able to get out by breaking the driver's side window and was waiting when emergency crews arrived.
Anyone who may have witnessed this collision and have yet to speak with an officer or if you have dash camera recording is asked to contact the West Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-2880 and reference file number 2023-61004.
