Residents in a Valleyview home escaped injury after a pickup truck crashed into their house last night.

At 9:30 p.m. yesterday Oct. 27 Kamloops RCMP received a report of a pickup truck that had left the frontage road on East Trans-Canada Highway and had collided with a home in the 2300 block, according to an RCMP media release. After hitting the home, the two got out of the vehicle and fled on foot.

Witnesses to the crash gave descriptions of the suspects to the RCMP and the men were tracked down a short while later.

RCMP say the driver, a 23-year-old man, was suspected to be impaired and was issued an immediate 90-day Roadside Prohibition, had his car impounded for 30 days and was charged under the Motor Vehicle Act for not remaining at the scene of the accident and also for not having a driver’s license.

The three residents of the home were not injured, although substantial damage was done to the home and the pickup truck, police say.
