A Kamloops designer came up with a miniature pickleball court and is unveiling the invention at a park in Kamloops today.

Kanda James said the Mini Pickleball Table is the first of its kind worldwide.

“We’re launching a pickleball table that people can play in their living rooms, when they are out camping or at a park,” he said. “People can keep playing, having fun and keeping their skills sharp no matter where they are.”

The miniature table is made of aluminum, so lightweight and sturdy, and designed to be compact, portable and easily folded with a smooth surface that is easy to clean.

James said the product is patented in U.S. and Canada under his company Play PicklePong, and he’s already taken some big orders from Canada’s top distributors.

He’s unveiling the table at Riverside Park in Kamloops today, May 2, and has experienced pickleball players coming to try it out.

James is also a partner at Armoured Labs that designs environmentally friendly products for sports equipment like surfboards and snowboards. Last year the entrepreneur designed protective bags for active people to carry wine bottles and expensive bongs in.

“I love designing cool, stuff and having fun,” James said. “I look for problems and enjoy finding creative, fun solutions and design things no one else does.”
