Central Okanagan Search and Rescue volunteers were called to to help the RCMP in a search to locate someone in medical distress in the Fintry area north of Kelowna last night.

Searchers responded yesterday, Jan. 5, with 18 members along with their search boat, which patrolled the Okanagan Lake shoreline.

Ground crews were able to locate the subject around midnight and transferred them to an ambulance, according to a Central Okanagan Search and Rescue media release.

Vernon Search and Rescue would normally have taken the incident on, but were already on another call in a search for a snowmobiler in the Mara Lake area, the release stated. The Vernon rescuers found the lost sledder.

The call was the second of the year for COSAR. The organization responded to 81 calls in 2020.
