PENTICTON - It's going to be very, very busy at the South Okanagan Events Centre in Penticton next weekend.
The new Cascades Casino is scheduled to open its doors on April 5 and the 22nd annual Fest of Ale takes place April 7 and April 8. The Gun and Antique Show also takes place at the Penticton Curling Club and rock band Weezer plays the Events Centre to round out a packed weekend of events.
“It’s pretty exciting to see this level of activity in the off-season as a result of the events centre complex,” the City's director of development services Anthony Haddad says, noting the number of events will create pressure on the availability of the 1,000 parking spaces on site.
City staff are urging those attending next weekend’s events to plan ahead and take note of tranportation options available to them.
“This is one of those few weekends where we will see overlapping activities that may lead to a parking shortage,” Haddad says. “We want to give people a heads up and let them know about their travel options so they can plan ahead.”
The City is urging those planning to attend an event between April 7 and April 9 to consult it’s travel guide for options and parking alternatives.
