After sweeping the Port Alberni Bulldogs in round four of the BCHL playoffs the Penticton Vees have defended their title as league champions.

The Vees were on the road last night, May 17, when they won the fourth game of the series by a score of 4-1.

Penticton goals were scored by Josh Nadeau, Brett Moravec, Mason Poolman and Dovar Tinling. Vees goalie Luca Di Pasquo blocked 26 of 27 shots.

The award for MPV of the playoffs was given to Bradly Nadeau who had 17 goals and 35 points in 17 games.

“It was all a team effort,” Bradly Nadeau said in a media release. “They gave me MVP, but everyone deserved it. Everyone gave everything they had and now we get to go enjoy it as a team.”

There was a scary moment in last night's game as Spencer Smith went into medical distress after getting hit. Smith was able to skate off the ice with assistance and was then taken to the Port Alberni hospital. He was cleared and released later in the night.

Penticton reached the final round of the playoffs after defeating the Trail Smoke Eaters, Wenatchee Wild and Salmon Arm Silverbacks.

The Vees have a record of 32-2 over the past two playoff tournaments. The last BCHL team to win back-to-back titles were the Penticton Knights in 1986.
