Media reports are speculating that the Penticton Vees are leaving the BC Hockey League are joining the Western Hockey League.
Articles in The Province and Vancouver Sun say the team may join the WHL next season.
“I know there's lots going on, but I have no information to pass on,” Penticton Vees vice president Fraser Rodgers told iNFOnews.ca today, Feb. 14. “I don't have any news to share at this time anyways, and I can't confirm anything for you today.”
The Vees have been in the BCHL for decades and are currently leading the league. Penticton’s proximity to Kelowna raises questions about whether the Vees would owe the Kelowna Rockets a fee to join the league, and how much it would be.
The WHL currently has 22 clubs, and time will tell if the Vees become one of them.
