After winning the first 24 games of the season, it was the Wenatchee Wild that would deliver the Penticton Vees with their first loss of the season.

The Wild didn't seem very threatening, having won only 9 of their 24 games before last night, Dec. 9. But thanks to the efforts of goaltender Owen Millward, who stopped 43 of 44 shots, the Wild was able to win by a score of 2-1.

"Penticton comes in at 24-0...and every team is trying to be "the one," the Wenatchee Wild posted to Facebook before last night's game.

For the Vees – who won 16 straight in last year's playoffs – last night was their first loss since March 31. The team won 40 games in a row between the playoffs and start of the regular season.

Penticton is still 15 points ahead of the next closest team in the BCHL standings, the Cranbrook Bucks.

The Vees next game is tonight, Dec. 10, in Cranbrook against the Bucks.
