Penticton street renamed to honour veterans

A Penticton road had its named changed from Forbes Street to Veterans Way to honour Canada's military.

Forbes Street has been renamed Veterans Way to honour those who have served and continue to serve in the military.

The downtown Penticton road runs north-south between Lakeshore Drive and Front Street. Nearby is Veterans Memorial Park with its cenotaph.

The new sign comes courtesy of the city's Heritage Advisory Committee and the Veteran's Association.

Association official Alan Kidd said,“The new Veterans Way street signs are very attractive, and we couldn’t have asked for a better street location to remember our fallen veterans.”

A small ceremony will be held in June marking the installation of a plaque as well as the street name change.
