PENTICTON - A step outside the door of a Penticton motel room for a quick smoke was nothing but trouble for a man Saturday night.

Police were called to the Jubilee Motel Saturday night, Dec. 12, after a man reported being assaulted by a woman at the motel, Penticton RCMP media spokesperson Don Wrigglesworth says.

The man had stepped outside his motel room door for a smoke when a woman came by and asked for a cigarette. When he said he had no more, she began hitting him, following him into his room while continuing to punch him in the head.

The woman lashed out at police when they arrived, punching one of the officers in the mouth and shouting obscenities.

She was arrested and held for a hearing with the justice of the peace. She has since been charged with assault, assaulting a police officer and break and enter, and was released on a promise to appear.

The victim received cuts to the head and required stitches.
