Penticton Search and Rescue saves injured climber

A woman is being airlifted from a spot in Skaha Bluffs Provincial Park where she sustained injuries on March 23, 2019.

PENTICTON — A woman climbing in Skaha Bluffs Provincial Park had to be taken by helicopter to Penticton Regional Hospital yesterday.

Penticton Search and Rescue deployed 12 personnel at about 4 p.m. yesterday, March 24, a media release says.

Kevin Hall with search and rescue reports that he sent two rescue trucks with ground teams, and a helicopter evacuation team to assist in the rescue.

Two search and rescue members hiked into the skaha Bluffs to help the 30-year-old woman who was suspected to have a lower-limb fracture.

She was airlifted out of the Bluffs to an ambulance where she was brought to hospital.

"The rescue task came only hours after the Provincial Governments announcement of continued funding for Search and Rescue Teams in the Province," the release says.
